How WISI Record works

WISI Record is the fight-record database of the World Innovative Sports Ranking Institute. This page explains where the data comes from and how to read it.

Where the data comes from

Fighter profiles come from Wikidata, which is released into the public domain (CC0). Events, fight cards and results come from Wikipedia and are available under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 licence. Each event page links to its source article.

Fighters also carry the identifiers other record databases use for them, so records can be cross-checked. We store the identifier only; we do not copy those databases.

Data is refreshed automatically, so new cards, changes and results arrive without manual work.

Photos and biographies

Photos come from Wikimedia Commons and are shown only when the file's own licence allows reuse: public domain, CC0, CC BY or CC BY-SA. The author and the licence appear under the photo on the fighter's page, linked to the original file. Photos uploaded by our editors carry the credit the editor entered.

Biographies are short excerpts from each fighter's Wikipedia article, available under CC BY-SA 4.0, with a link to the full article. Texts written by our editors are not marked this way. A free copyright licence does not cover the personal rights of the person pictured.

Official record vs. recorded bouts

A fighter's official record is the career total published by a source or confirmed by an editor. When we have it, that is the number shown.

When we do not, the page shows recorded bouts: the wins, losses and draws counted from the fights currently on WISI Record. That count can be lower than the full career, which is why it carries a label. Professional and amateur records are always kept separate.

Champions

Champion lists are built from the results of title bouts on record: whoever wins a title bout holds the belt afterwards. Titles that were vacated or stripped are not visible in bout results, so very recent changes can lag behind reality.

Independence

WISI Record is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any sanctioning body, promotion, fighter or other record database named on this site. Names and results are published for reference.
